1.5 hrs N of Lake Louise and 1 hr S of Jasper beside the 230 km (143 mi) long Icefields Pkwy is the Columbia Icefield, one of the largest accumulations of ice S of the Arctic Circle. Visitors can take a guided tour on the glacier by foot or Ice Explorer. Caution: unguided walks on the Icefield can be dangerous.
